"I went to Miami this weekend and had a great time," Bunkley said. "It was a great visit. The players, coaches, and everyone were excellent people. The social life there is excellent, and there's always something to do. I love almost everything about Miami. Unfortunately, it does not appear the opportunity is there for me to start playing next fall. They have seven seniors back on their defense next season and Vince Wilfork is only a freshman, so it just seems the opportunity to play is better at Florida State."
So does that mean the Seminoles are still the front runners?
"I came back home and my mom and I compared notes," he said. "As of right now, it's almost definite that I'll be going to Florida State. There's a 90-percent chance that I will announce it this Thursday on a radio show in Tallahassee. The last 10-percent is Miami, but it's fading. Florida is completely out of it."
At 6-foot-3 and 259 pounds, Bunkley said he met with Coach Coker and came away very impressed.
"He's a great guy," he said. "I was amazed at how close all the players and coaches are. He said they only had one scholarship left and I would rather see someone else be that lucky one. Maybe someone like John Wood. I told him that I was probably going to Florida State, but if I didn't like it there after a year, I would transfer to Miami. They have everything I want at Miami except the opportunity to play right away."
Bunkley said he will be receiving in-home visits from both Miami (Coker, Werner, and Mark) and Florida State this week.
