Is Randy Phillips Done?

There has been a lot of talk about the visit schedule of Glades Central defensive back Randy Phillips in recent weeks. The standout defender addressed the issue today. "I'm done," Phillips said.

"It's over. I'm a Cane. What I saw this weekend confirmed that I need to join the family. Florida State's nice and all, but I'm a Hurricane. No more visits."

Phillips, 6-0 and 185 pounds, is being recruited as a safety by the Canes and came away impressed with the visit this weekend.

"It was a real good visit," he said. "It just made me realize how tight those guys are. The unity there is great, something I want to be a part of someday. My host was Marcus Maxey but I was pretty much with everyone. Plus, there were a lot of recruits there."

The talented defensive back said he met with the coaches this weekend and discussed the possibility of playing right away.

"They said if I work hard enough I can go in there and play," he said. "That's what I'm trying to do. I don't really wanna just wait around. It's up to me."

Phillips says he's very excited about his future as a Hurricane.

"They got a great team coming back," he said. "All the guys are working real hard. I can't wait to become a part of that."

Phillips then had a message for Canes fans.

"It'll be fun watching me and Kenny (Phillips) in the same secondary," he said.

Phillips is a full academic qualifier.
