Visits Blows Away DB

Bruce Johnson made an early commitment to the University of Miami after taking an unofficial visit here over the summer. He was able to get a closer look at the program this weekend.

"The visit was sick, man," Johnson said. "I had a great time. I love everything about Miami. The players are fun to be with, the coaches are cool, the academics are good, the people around the school are nice, and the nightlife is good in Miami. It's just like a perfect situation for me."

Johnson, 5-10 and 171 pounds, said he had a chance to meet with some of the coaches and mentioned that he was impressed with Coach Swasey.

"Everyone loves him," he said. "You should have seen it the last two days. They started their workout program for the offseason and everyone was walking around all tired and sore and everything. Coach Swasey was working them real hard."

The talented defensive back, who is fully qualified, said he also enjoyed hearing about the possibility of playing as a true freshman.

"That's what I'm trying to do," he said. "They were telling me, Kenny, and Randy that we could all play together as freshmen. They really only have two nickel backs right now and that's Brandon and Kelly so there will be some spots open."

Johnson is now gearing up for track season and is excited about his future.

"I can't wait to get down there and start training and getting ready," he said. "I think it's a great situation for me and I'm really looking forward to starting the whole experience. I think we're gonna have some great teams coming up in the future there."
