A.J. Nicholson Interview

Rumors have been floating around about the super linebacker possibly having dropped the Canes from consideration.

"I don't know where that came from (laughing)," Nicholson said tonight. So is is true? "No sir. Miami's right near the top of my list."

Nicholson took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend.

"Tennessee was real nice," he said. "It went well. I really enjoyed the visit. It was a successful visit and I learned a lot."

At 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, Nicholson said he has things down to four.

"I only have one trip left," he said. "Right now, everyone's even. It's Miami, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida State."

Nicholson talked about each of his favorites.

"I like Carolina because Carolina Blue runs in my family," he said. "My dad played there and it's a great place. Tennessee has a big stadium and lots of tradition. Florida State also has a lot of tradition and I really like Coach Bowden. And I grew up a Miami fan. I went there on a visit and you can't beat that. They're coming off a championship and the players all seem to have a real close relationship at Miami."

Nicholson said Florida State was already by for an in-home visit this week, Miami comes by Tuesday or Wednesday, and both Tennessee and North Carolina will be there on Thursday.

"I'll take my last trip to Carolina and then sit down and figure out what's best for me. I can't go wrong with any of these schools, but I have to make a choice. I'll probably have a decision ready on signing day next Wednesday."
