LB Likes Miami

Chasman Davis is what some would call a physical freak. Athletically, he's off the charts. At 5-11 1/2 and 210 pounds.

Chasman Davis ran a 4.31/40 at a combine earlier this season. He jumped 34 inches and put up 23 reps at 185 on the bench press. You won't find a prospect with better numbers than that anywhere in the state this season.

On the field, Davis was pretty impressive as well last season. He finished the season with 68 tackles, 21 for loss, 10 sacks, and seven caused fumbles.

"I've been playing since I was about 9 or 10," Davis said. "It just came natural to me. I played mostly d-end and linebacker last season but I know I'll be playing linebacker when I go off to college."

Davis, who carries a 2.8 GPA and a 750 SAT score, also participates in track. He ran a 11.0/100m earlier this year, which was his personal best.

On the recruiting front, the scholarship offers are starting to roll in.

"I got them in writing from West Virginia, the Georgia Bulldogs, and North Carolina," he said. "I got a lot more verbally but I don't even really count those. My favorites right now are Georgia and Florida but I think I wanna leave the state."

Davis has been getting a lot of mail from Miami but hasn't met with any of the coaches yet.

"I know they're a private school and they have a nice campus," he said. "They have a great football program too and it's close to home. If they offer me, I'll put them near the top too."

Davis, who is nursing a pulled hamstring right now, played next to Jamar Chaney last season, Chaney signed with UGA in February, thus the connection between Davis and Georgia.
