LB: "Miami Sends Guys to the NFL"

Hamilton County High School's football program was a bit messy this spring. They began spring football two weeks late. They had no plan for summer conditioning drills. And coming off a subpar season, the prospects for this coming season werent that good.

All of that comes from linebacker Dustin Doe, who recently decided to transfer to Suwannee High School in Live Oak.

"I wanted to be at a more established program and our team at Suwannee is looking good," Doe said. "(Former teammate) Leon Daniels is probably coming here too."

Doe, 6-0 and 210 pounds, is coming off an impressive junior season. He finished the year with 77 tackles including over a dozen for a loss.

"I just love to play," he said. "I'm going 100 percent every single play and I know a lot of my opponents arent doing that. Teams ran away from me a lot last season so I had a lot of backside tackles. That's fine with me. Whatever works for our team this season, I'll be comfortable with."

Doe, a full academic qualifier after scoring a 21 on the ACT, also plays basketball and runs track (high jump, triple jump, and 4x1 relay). However, it's his ability on the gridiron that has college coaches very interested.

"Georgia was the first school to offer me and now Louisville has," he said. "Florida seems real close. They want me to meet Coach Strong first. I got a lot of other calls during May, too."

Doe says two schools currently stand out on his list of favorites.

"Florida State and Georgia are the main ones right now," he said. "Georgia seems real interested and FSU has always been one of my top teams. Florida, Clemson, Tennessee, and Miami are my other favorites."

Doe says he spoke to the UM coaches during the May evaluation period.

"They called and talked about some different things," he said. "They haven't offered yet but I'm going down to their camp to see if I can leave there with one. I've never been there. I'll know a lot more about Miami after that and if they offer, I'll be real interested in them. Miami sends guys to the NFL better than anyone and they always have a good defense. It's something every linebacker would want to be a part of."

Doe was in Gainesville over the weekend and plans to be at Miami's camp this coming weekend.
