At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Bynes has a prototypical frame for a quarterback and he was blessed with a big time arm. He put it on display during his team's spring game against Atlantic.
"I threw for over 200 yards and rushed for about 60 more," Bynes said. "I was just out there flinging it around like I do best."
The talented quarterback, whose brother (Josh) will be one of the state's top defensive end prospects in 2006, spent time at the University of Miami summer camp earlier this month.
"I went for the last two days and really thought I had a good camp," he said. "There was some good competition and I was able to work with the coaches and learn some new things. Everyone was there to prove a point, including myself. I had fun and enjoyed it."
When asked about other players at the camp, Bynes pointed out a few who stood out in his eyes.
"Jared Fayson was there at quarterback," he said. "He looks great out there, either as a QB or a receiver. My receiver, Travius Thompson, was out there and he looked good. My brother went. There was a receiver (Tim Brown) who was a little small but he was showing everyone a little something. There was good competition out there."
Bynes, who plans on attending FSU's camp next month, was invited to the camp by the UM coaches who called him during the May evaluation period. However, the Canes haven't offered yet.
"I just got two new offers in from FIU and Louisville," he said. "I also have them from North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, Wisconsin, Auburn, OLe Miss, and UCF. I couldn't say who my top five would be right now because I don't know for sure who's all gonna offer yet."
Bynes said there's a lot to like about the Hurricanes.
"If they offer me, that would be tight," he said. "They're close to home and they always have a good team. They told me they'll be coming to one of my games this season so hopefully I'll show them that I got what it takes."
