Local Star Claims 22 Offers

Antonio Lowery is coming off an impressive junior season. When you combine his academic and athletic ability, you have quite a prospect.

"I've now gotten 22 written offers," Lowery said. "They started early and haven't stopped. I have my list narrowed down to 10 right now -- Rutgers, UM, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Boston College, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and NC State."

Antonio Lowery, 6-2 and 210 pounds, finished his junior season with 54 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions. He hopes to have a much better year and will add offensive duties to his schedule this fall.

"After what I did at the Rutgers camp playing receiver my coaches have told me that I'll be playing receiver this year too," he said. "Whatever helps our team win, I'm OK with that."

Lowery, who is good friends with Miami Northwestern standout receiver Tim Brown, said he loves attacking ball carriers.

"Whenever I see the ball, I go get it," he said. "I get there quickly and I do whatever I can to take it away. That's just the way I play."

The Miami (Fla.) Columbus standout said all of his current college favorites have offered except for one -- the hometown Hurricanes.

"We talked," he said. "Coach Shannon came out to watch my spring game. Coach Cristobal is recruiting me. I've called Coach Hargreaves and have talked to him. They seem like they're on the verge of doing it but they haven't yet. I'm not sure what they're waiting on. Maybe they wanna see my some during the season. They'd be right at the top if they offered but until then, I gotta go with the ones that have offered."
