All-State OL Likes UM

Estero's Derrick Morse enters the spring as one of the state's top offensive line prospects.

Estero High School produced one of the state's top offensive lineman last season in Randy Hand (Florida). This year, college coaches will flock back there to watch this year's version, Derrick Morse.

At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Morse isn't quite as tall as Hand, but he has similar athletic ability and footwork. Like Hand, he should become a major Div 1 prospect this spring.

Inside the classroom, he carries a 3.4 GPA and took the SAT for the first time today. Inside the weightroom, he bench presses 285 pounds.

As a junior last season, Morse was a first team All-County and All-Conference pick as well as a third team all-state selection.

On his questionnaire, Morse indicates that his top five schools are Florida, Miami, Virginia, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

Although he doesn't have any early scholarship offers, they should start to roll in during the May evaluation period. He also competes in track (shot put and discus). Morse plans on attending the NIKE Camp at Miami next month as well as Lakeland's Down & Dirty Camp, one in which Hand dominated at last summer.
