Devin Hester Update

Devin Hester put together back-to-back amazing punt returns in the second quarter against Duke, but was unable to play the rest of the game due to dehydration.

Following the game against Duke, Hester spoked with members of the media outside of the locker room. He expressed his disappointment with his troubles with dehydration and noted it was the third week in a row he has dealt with it.

After the game Hester went to the hospital to get checked out.

"They really just said it was going to be up to the coaches," Hester said.

This week of practices have been going well for Hester.

"I've just been trying to do my thing," Hester said. "I'm trying to go harder now in practice so I can play the whole game. I'm just drinking as much water as I can so I don't dehydrate."

Last week against Duke, Hester was named the ACC special teams performer of the week. He returned four punts for 101 yards including returns of 43 and 42 yards.

Unfortunately for Hester, he was unable to play in the second half due to dehyrdation.

Hester is drinking 4-5 bottles of water or Gatorade each day to help prepare him for the game on Saturday.

"They've just told me to drink a lot of fluids," Hester said.

Temple ranks 102nd in defensive punt return average giving up 13.8 yards per return. They have also allowed two punt returns for touchdowns.

Temple ranks dead last in defensive kickoff return average giving up 34.0 yards per return although they have not allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Hester is one of the most dangerous return men in the country and is due for a touchdown return. He has yet to record one this season, but has five in his career.

"I have the mentality that every week is a good week to score," Hester said.

Hester gets his next chance Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Temple.
