Canes Going Hard After D-End

Maurice Evans went into his senior season focused. Not much has gotten in the way -- none of the opposing offensive tackles and none of the attention he's been getting on the recruiting front.

"I've just concentrated on playing well and doing what I had to do to help my team," Evans said. "I don't have any of my stats but I did OK."

Maurice Evans and his Middle Village (NY) Christ the King teammates will finish up their season on Saturday, a weekly occurance that has prevented him from taking many unofficial visits this year.

"We played a lot of Saturday games and that kinda prevented me from doing that," he said. "I've been keeping up though. I'll sort through all of that after the season."

Evans said several programs are still on his list of favorites -- Miami, Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia, Florida, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Maryland to name a few. He spoke briefly about Miami.

"I like their speed on defense," he said. "I like what they do on that side of the ball. I think it fits my style. I'm definitely interested in them right now."

He denies a favorite at this point and has not yet scheduled any official visits.

"We finish up our season and then I'll start doing that," he said. "I need to set some up so I can start narrowing it down and find out where I'm gonna be most comfortable."
