Men's Tennis To Face South Florida

The No. 36 University of Miami men's tennis team (12-9) will travel to Florida to face No. 25 South Florida (16-4) on Saturday, May 11 at the NCAA Tennis Regionals in Gainesville, Fla.

The Hurricanes finished runner-up at the BIG EAST Championships falling 4-1 to top-seeded Notre Dame in Coral Gables, Fla. Miami received an at-large bid from the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee placing them in the regionals.

No. 13 host-school Florida (16-4) will face No. 60 Georgia State (15-8) in the other first-round matchup. The winner of the UF/Georgia State match will play the winner of the UM/USF contest on Sunday, May 12.

Additionally, freshman Todd Widom, ranked No. 33 in the nation by the ITA, was selected among 64 players for the NCAA singles championships which will take place on Wednesday, May 22 at College Station, Texas. Widom finished the season with a 28-6 singles mark and was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the BIG EAST Championship Tournament.

The team championship, hosted by the Texas A&M University, College Station, will take place May 18-27 in College Station, Texas.
