Canes Lead For Star DL

Bryant Miller and his Miami Central teammates had high expectations heading into this season. Unfortunately, their season ended early two weeks ago.

"We didn't even make the playoffs," Miller said. "I don't know what happened with the wild cards. They've done them in the past (where a 3rd place team within a district, if ranked high enough, could still make it). Oh well, life goes on."

Bryant Miller was a key reason why Central's defense had given up just 28 points in their first seven games with five shutouts.

"Then we played Northwestern and things just didn't go our way," he said. "They have a good team. It's just frustrating the way things ended."

Miller, who finished the season with over 30 tackles and seven sacks, is now getting ready for track season.

"I finished No. 2 behind Ricky Jean (Francois) last year," he said. "I'm going for the state title this year. Plus, I'm in the weightroom working on my strength and footwork."

In the meantime, Miller continues to get recruited nationally. He spoke about the latest.

"The recruiting stuff has been great," he said. "I'm trying to get this test out of the way. I gotta take it before I can go on visits. I'm scheduled for December 3rd. After that, I'll start setting them up. There's UM, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Clemson, and a few others."

Miller, 6-4 and 240, said the first four of those will definitely get visits. He's still unsure about the fifth. One in particular, however, continues to stand out above the rest.

"I love UM, man," he said. "They're very well coached on defense and I really like talking to Coach Shannon. He's straight up with you. He thinks I'll fit in well there and I do too. I'm big on UM right now. Look at the way they beat up on Virginia Tech like that. Nobody expected that. It's what they do. I'm gonna try making it out to one of their games here at the end of the season."
