UM Putting Full-Court Press on OL

Orlando Franklin's senior season ended a few weeks ago and now he's playing on the varsity basketball team. If that weren't enough to keep him busy, the recruiting process is there to help.

"Man, since the coaches were able to start coming, it's been crazy around here," Franklin said. "It's great to see that so many colleges want me to play for them. I've been getting new offers all the time."

At 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, the talented big man talked about some of those in-home visits.

"Florida's actually coming up here tonight," he said. "I found out that Florida has actually offered me. I found out last Friday. Yesterday Coach Kehoe, Coach Cristobal, and Coach Johnson from Miami came here. Florida State and Pittsburgh came by Friday. I've been seeing a lot of coaches lately."

Orlando Franklin spoke more about the in-home visit with the UM coaches on Sunday night.

"My mom just came into town," he said. "They wanted to be the first to meet her. They wanted to let her know what's going on. They were saying I'm a good kid and stuff like that. They were basically explaining to her how the process works and answering any questions she had. It went well. Miami is making it pretty clear how much they want me."

The talented senior has four of his five visits already set up. He's not sure about No. 5 yet.

"I'm going to Minnesota this weekend actually," he said. "Louisville is next weekend. Florida State is the third week in January and Miami is the last week in January."

Last month, Franklin told us that the Canes and Noles were at the top of his list. Is that still the case?

"I still wanna stay in Florida but if the education is better somewhere else and I feel like I'll be more comfortable somewhere else then I'm willing to go," he said.

Franklin is teammates with star receiver Preston Parker. The talented lineman was asked about his relationship with Parker.

"We talk and his interests are similar to mine," he said. "We're going on the Florida State and Miami visits together. But we haven't talked about (going to college together). We're gonna each make our own decision."
