UM Lands Huge Commitment

Ryan Hill didn't have the type of senior season he had hoped for but his hard work will be paying off because he'll be getting the chance to fulfill a dream of his and that's to play football at the University of Miami.

"I wanted to let you know that I'm going to make a commitment to Miami at 9 o'clock tonight," Hill said on Monday night. "I felt like it was time and wanted to give you the good news."

Ryan Hill, 5-11 and 185 pounds, picked the Hurricanes over a host of others including Alabama, Florida State, and Florida. Why now?

"I've always wanted to be a Hurricane," he said. "This is something I've thought about for the longest time. Now I'm gonna have the opportunity to live it out."

The talented cornerback, who is scheduled to visit UM on January 20th, received an in-home visit from UM coach Tim Walton tonight.

"Coach Walton and Coach Soldinger have been coming by each week," he said. "I'm gonna be talking to Coach Coker about it tonight. It's just that I couldn't wait anymore. I know this is where I wanna go so why not make it official."

Hill, who says he likely won't take any other visits, likes the opportunity of playing early at Miami.

"I'm looking at their situation and I know of a kid named Bruce Johnson who is only a freshman," he said. "He's listed as one of the starters going into next season. He's a good player and all but I feel confident in my ability and I think I can go in there and compete for a spot right away."

Living in Tallahassee, Hill will likely feel lots of pressure to stay closer to home. He spoke about how firm the commitment to Miami is.

"That's it," he said. "Miami's where my heart's at and nothing's gonna change my mind. I'm a Hurricane."
