Practice Report: 12/22

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The #9 Hurricanes held their final practice on campus before the Peach Bowl.

The team practiced for 90 minutes today beginning at 9:30 a.m.

According to athetlic director Paul Dee, they have sold over 10,000 tickets for the bowl game compared to just 5,000 a year ago. The team still has 7,000 left in their allotment.

"This was a regular Thursday practice for us in a game week before we turn them loose in a little bit. They will have some relax time. We had an outstanding work week and I hope we can finish it off in Atlanta. We know we have a tremendous challenge and we have to play well--we expect to play well."

"In the bowl game preparation, we try to focus on everything and when we get there we fine-tune everything. The three weeks can help or hurt. Sometimes you tend to input too much and you are not good with what you do."

"At the end of practice I told our team about some of the logistics of travel, what we expect, and we want to leave an impression--a good impression. I told them we want we want to leave a good impression with the people at the hotel and the people watching the game with a national audience."

· Devin Hester has been used in various roles on offense thus far and is expected to have a large role in the Peach Bowl. Last year, Hester was the Defensive MVP in the Peach Bowl and this year he has a chance to be the Offensive MVP. Either way he is looking for a strong individual performance to help his decision on whether or not he will leave early for the NFL Draft.

· DT Kareem Brown appears to be on the right track in terms of behind one of the defensive leaders in 2006. Brown is playing with a lot of confidence and will be expected to be a starter next season.

· DE Bryan Pata was outstanding in last year's Peach Bowl and hopes to have another strong game. Pata talks to LSU LB Ali Highsmith on a regular basis and the two have already had plenty to talk about with the matchup.

· FS Anthony Reddick (ACL), CB Glenn Sharpe (ACL), LB Tavares Gooden (shoulder), RB Tyrone Moss (ACL), WR Terrell Walden (knee), RB George Timmons (leg) and DT Dwayne Hendricks (leg) are not expected to play in the bowl game.
