Daniel Stegall Q&A

Daniel Stegall is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback from Greenwood, Ark. who signed with Miami earlier this month. We took time to ask Graig questions that you might not have heard during the recruiting process.

What do you think of Coach Todd Berry?

"I really liked Coach Berry from the beginning. He's real matter of fact. He knows what's best. He'll tell you what's best for you, even if you don't like it or not. Plus, the spread offense he's bringing to Miami, it'll be easier to mold myself into that."

Have you ever watched the Hurricanes play before?

"I saw a couple games on TV. All I knew was that it was a powerhouse football university. I did not know it was private school and that was the most surprising thing I found out."

Describe your visit to Miami.

"We ate a lot. They just filled us in on information about the University and the academic programs. We saw all the facilities. Then we hung out with the players at night. They showed us around town and things like that."

Talk about signing day and how it went.

"It went great. The whole school came to watch. Everyone was wearing orange and green. The day I signed, we had 7,200 new Canes fans in Greenwood."

What are your plans for the rest of spring?

"Go ahead and finish school and graduate, play baseball. We have a pretty good baseball team and hopefully we'll win states. Two in one year would be good."

"4.22 and a 24 ACT"

What are your plans after graduation?

"May 18th is graduation. I'll probably take a senior trip with some friends. Then summer school's June 27 down in Miami. I'll drive down and bring all my stuff."

What are your goals as a freshman?

"I want to learn the offense, get bigger, stronger, and faster. Basically, just get acquainted with the offense and get better every day." Talk about Larry Coker. "My parents liked him. He's a great guy. The things I've heard about him are positive. He's a very strong Christian man. He's very smart and a great coach."
