Nicknamed "Shockey"

Nick Provo is nicknamed "Shockey" by his Lake Worth (Fla.) John I. Leonard teammates.

Maybe it's because he's one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the entire state. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he hauled in 45 passes for 587 yards and four touchdowns over the past two seasons. He doubles up as a defensive end, where he had 50 tackles, 10 for loss, and seven sacks as a junior.

"I just try to go out there and play hard," Provo said. "I think I'm able to make things happen in the passing game. I play on both sides but I'm probably going to be a tight end in college."

Nick Provo, who also competes in track (he recently ran a 11.0 in the 100m), is getting lots of Division 1 attention already.

"Not yet," he said about his offer situation. "A lot of schools seem real interested, though. My top choices would be Miami, Florida, Syracuse, and Iowa. I really like how Syracuse and Miami use their tight ends. It's still early though."

Provo, who plans to attend the All-American Combine in Jacksonville this Sunday, took in Junior Day at the University of Miami a few weeks ago.

"I enjoyed it a lot," he said. "I had a chance to talk to all the coaches. I met Coach (Pannunzio), the new tight ends coach. He's a real good guy and really knows what he's saying. He seems real excited about things down there in Miami."
