QB To Visit UM This Week

Michigan signed quarterback Jason Forcier a couple years ago and now his brother, Chris, is emerging as a top notch quarterback prospect himself. The talented signal-caller threw for 2,634 yards and 32 touchdowns as a junior, while running for 415 more.

"We won the section title in Division 3," Forcier said. "I thought I had a good junior year. We had a receiver who's going to Nebraska and that was a big help. For me, last year was a breakout year."

Chris Forcier, 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, spent his freshman year at Mater Dei High School before transferring to another school as a sophomore. He ended up at St. Augustine High in San Diego for his junior season.

"I really like it here," he said. "It's a great offense. We have great coaches. We do lots of rollouts and do a lot of shot gun. We throw the ball a lot. Our offense is like the one they run at Florida."

Forcier, who participated in yesterday's Scout.com All-American Combine in Jacksonville, was asked to describe himself as a quarterback.

"A lot of people say I'm a dual threat quarterback," he said. "I'm a pocket passer with wheels. I'm always looking to pass first but if I have to, I'll take off and get some yards."

The talented junior has emerged as a major recruit on the West Coast. He claims 12 written scholarship offers.

"My top choices right now are UCLA, Ole Miss, and Oregon," he said. "That's based on who has already offered me. I really like UCLA. They came on the first day of my junior season. I like the coaches and I'm real familiar with them."

Forcier will spend this week visiting two schools that have been recruiting him but haven't offered -- Florida and Miami.

"I'll be at Florida (Monday) and Miami Tuesday," he said. "I'm really excited about it. They've both offered quarterbacks on the East Coast and before offering me, they want to size me up I guess."

Forcier talked more about both programs, beginning with the Gators.

"They're recruiting me pretty good," he said. "I get a lot of text messages from Urban Meyer and stuff like that. Like I said, we run an offense like thiers so I think I could fit in really well there. With Miami, I sent them my highlight tape and then they called my coach. I was first recruited by Dan Werner. Now Coach Berry is on me. My dad talks to him a lot and he likes what he's been hearing. I want to have a good relationship with my recruiting coach. Miami is impressive. They have a lot of great athletes and they're always near the top. I've heard a lot of good things about them and now I want to check it out for myself."

Forcier plans on attending a camp at Southern Cal later this summer. He was asked where the Trojans stand right now.

"They said they want to evaluate me more," he said. "I think the only quarterback they've offered is (Jimmy) Clausen. Hopefully I can show them some things."

Forcier is a full academic qualifier.
