James Pouncey, who already has a passing ACT score, is coming off what he considers a decent junior season.
"It was nice winning and everything and I played alright," he said. "I didn't play to my full ability, though. I really wanna go out there and destroy people this year."
The talented lineman, who also throws the shot put and discus for the Lakeland track team, claims five written offers.
The Pouncey twins made an early commitment to Florida State last year and he was asked about the status of that decision.
"We don't know right now," he said. "We may end up there but we're trying to explore other options as well. It was just a verbal offer so we didn't sign any papers or anything. It was a mistake at first and now that we're getting all these other offers, we wanna look around."
The Noles are, however, still right at the top of his list.
"Florida State and Florida are the main two," he said. "We really like the coaches at Florida State. I've liked them since I was small. It's a dream to play there. A bunch of us are going up there for their Junior Day next weekend."
Pouncey, who lives with teammate Chris Rainey, said things get interesting inside their home.
"We all wanna stay together," he said. "We're Florida State fans and he's a Florida fan so it's fun sometimes."
In addition to the two Florida schools, Pouncey mentioned a few others.
"We got invited to USC's Junior Day on April 2," he said. "They're a top notch program that we're interested in. We also like Miami a lot. They're just now starting to talk to them now that they have some new coaches. They haven't offered yet but we're interesting in hearing what they have to say."
Pouncey and several of his Lakeland teammates plan to be at the Scout.com All-American Combine at FAU on May 13.
