RB Likes UM's Tradition

After running for 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior last season, Mike Brown's name was on the recruiting map.

The Brandon High standout then attended the Scout.com All-American Combine in Jacksonville on March 19 and ripped off the 2nd fastest 40-time at 4.38. It's more than just speed with Brown, though.

"I think I have better vision than most running backs in high school," Brown said. "I'm small but I have great footwork and know when holes are going to open and close. I can see the whole field at once."

At 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, Mike Brown has not yet received any scholarship offers but a lot of schools have been sending him letters.

"My top five would probably be Florida State, Miami, Florida, Georgia, and AUburn. With Florida State, I really like what I see of them on TV. Miami has sent me some stuff and every year, they're loaded with good running backs. They never have a dropoff it seems. I'd like to step in there and be a part of that. Florida, they're giving me some strong looks."

One of Brown's closest friends will be a Gator in the fall. He talked more about that.

"Jarred Fayon's going there," he said. "He's a real close friend of mine. We grew up together. It's funny, I actually played quarterback in Little League when we played together. He played receiver since he was taller than everyone."
