Big Time Pass Rusher

Claude Davis is coming off an outstanding junior season. As one of the leaders of a very good Lake Gibson defense in 2005

Claude Davis finished the year with 96 tackles, 14 sacks, eight caused fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns. He talks about what separates him from other players.

"I'm more intense than most guys," Davis said. "I love the physical part of playing football. When I'm out there on an island with a tackle, it's over."

At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Davis is already getting lots of recruiting attention. While he doesn't have any offers yet, several schools are keeping a close eye on him.

"Iowa and Auburn send me a lot of hand-written mail and they're probably recruiting me the hardest," he said. "I'd say (my top five are) Iowa, Miami, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Auburn. Iowa is on top right now. I like where their program is going and I never played in cold weather and think I'd like that."

The talented pass rusher spoke more about the Hurricanes.

"They put guys into the NFL and that's where I wanna be one day," he said.

Davis, who also plays varsity basketball, plans on attending the Scout.com All-American Combine in Boca Raton on May 13.
