Talented DL Lands UM Offer

Earlier this month, we had an interview with this standout defensive lineman. In that interview, he told me he was planning on attending the UM summer camp in hope of landing a scholarship offer. Mission accomplished.

Sebastian River standout defensive lineman Kevin Williams now has an offer from UM.

"I went to the camp and had a real nice time," Williams said. "I learned a lot of new stuff from the coaches and had a chance to go up against a lot of good players. They offered me while I was there."

At 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, Williams carries a 2.4 GPA inside the classroom and is still waiting for his test scores to come back.

"They seemed to really like me because I was given the award for Best Defensive Lineman," he said. "I haven't made my decision yet. Miami's still my favorite, and my top three are Miami, Florida, and Georgia."

Williams said he might attend Down & Dirty Linemen Camp in Lakeland next month, a camp in which Greg Mark will be coaching.

Personally, I'm excited about this kid. I watched him twice in the spring and came away very impressed. He has excellent athletic ability and good footwork on a huge frame. He just started playing football last season and that's another reason why his upside is so high. I also watched him play live in basketball last January and I was amazed at how well he ran and jumped around for someone his size. I truly think he'll become a UM commitment before long, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
