Sophomore Antonio Dixon, UM's massive defensive tackle, played in eight games last season as a true freshman. Dixon spoke about his continuing weight loss and his progress this spring.

How has spring practice been going for you so far?

"The first part of spring was kind of rough, but now I am getting better and better everyday and it is going good now. I learned a whole bunch of techniques and my weight has gotten way better."

What was the toughest part about the beginning of spring?

"The conditioning was the toughest part in the beginning. But, I just rode the bikes inside the weight room in my off time. I have been riding the bike for 45 minutes a day."

What weight are you at now?

"I am at 334 pounds."

What weight did you arrive at when you first came to UM?

"I came in at 355 pounds."

What do you want to be at for the season?

"I would like to be at 320 or 325 pounds."

Do you have a plan in place to lose the weight?

"I cannot eat big portions of food and I am going to cut down on the red meat a lot."

Have you gotten stronger even though you have lost all the weight?

"My bench press has jumped 50 pounds and my squat has jumped 100 pounds."

How much has you body fat percentage gone down?

"My body fat has gone down. When I first got here I was at 28 percent body fat and now I am at about 21 percent."

Do you feel like you have pushed Teraz and Kareem for the first team spot?

"I am trying to push them for the first team spot. I am trying to get better and better everyday."

What were your goals heading into the spring?

"My goals were to lose weight and just have a good burst off of the ball."

What are you looking to do in the spring game tomorrow?

"I just want to have fun. I want to run around the field and make some plays."
