Jarvis Givens is having fun out on the practice fields so far this spring. The talented defensive tackle prospect from Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep talked about it.

"Man, it's been great," Givens said. "We're having a lot of fun. We have a lot of kids who transferred in so they're sitting out spring but the season should be fun."

Jarvis Givens, 6-foot-2 and 295 pounds, is coming off a strong junior season. He played on both sides of the ball.

"I'm quicker than most guys my size on the defensive line and that's the name of the game," he said. "I just go out trying to dominate."

Givens has one offer so far but several others, he says, are just waiting on his test scores.

"A lot of coaches said they'll offer once they see my test scores," he said. "FIU has already offered. The coach from Miami called and he said he's coming out to watch practice. We've had a lot of coaches watching practice."

Last year, Florida State and Miami battled down to the wire for former Gulliver Prep star Anthony Leon. If he gets the offers he wants, Givens may provide the same excitement.

"My top two are definitely FSU and UM," he said. "I really like Odell (Heggins) and the program there. But UM is right up the street and they produce. They're even right now. After that, it's Clemson, Ole Miss, and LSU."

Givens and teammate Darran Kinsey plan on attending Saturday's Scout.com All-American Combine at FAU.
