Guyton Talks Recruiting

A.J. Guyton didn't attend any summer camps after his strong performance at the University of Miami's event back in late June, which resulted in a scholarship offer from the hometown Hurricanes.

"That's the last one I did," Guyton said. "I've been working out back home with my teammates lately. We're looking pretty good. I'll be playing quarterback, a lot of receiver, and a little in the return game. Since most colleges are recruiting me for receiver, I'll be playing there a lot this season."

A.J. Guyton, 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, is up to seven scholarship with two more that may be close.

"I now have them from Ohio University, Auburn, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, the University of Miami, and Illinois," he said. "I've been talking to Michigan State and Alabama a lot lately and I think they're getting ready to offer."

The Homestead High standout says that despite his strong interest in the hometown team, he remains wide open right now.

"I'm still evaluating all of them," he said. "UM looks great but I don't know as much about some of the other ones. I don't have a single favorite right now. I'm looking at Michigan State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, and Miami. Basically, whoever recruits me the hardest is where I'll be most interested in and then come the visits. I'm gonna take all five."

Guyton has kept in close contact with UM coach Marquis Mosley lately.

"Ever since the camp, I stay in touch with Coach Mosley a lot," he said. "He just keeps me posted on what's going on and stuff like that. He's still trying to get me and Alphonso (Bryant)."
