Standout WR Gets UM Offer

This talented wide receiver has only played one season of football, and it hasn't taken him long to become one of the state's top overall prospects.

While on my spring tour around the state this year, I came across some players that I felt had upside to become big time players that weren't getting a whole lot of pub. One of those players that I was very high on was Miami Norland standout wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

The talented wide receiver recently attended the LSU summer camp, where he was very impressive. After checking in at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, Bowe ran a 4.54/40 and dominated in drills.

"They said they really liked me a lot and the things I did at the camp," Bowe said. "I have an offer from LSU."

Bowe, who just started playing football last season, caught eight touchdowns in his first year playing. Inside the classroom, he carries a 2.2 core and is still waiting on his SAT scores. He also runs the 100m and 200m events in track.

"I got about 15-20 calls during the spring," he said. "Michigan State, LSU, FAU, West Virginia, and now UM have sent me letters in the mail saying they have offered."

The talented wide receiver talked more about the Hurricanes.

"I just got their letter on Friday," he said. "They're a good program and have a lot of players from down here. Kareem [Brown] is going there."

Bowe said while he was happy to get offered by the Hurricanes, he's trying to keep his options open.

"I want to take my visits though. I want to visit UM, LSU, Michigan State, Florida State, and West Virginia. I just want to play ball, and I haven't really thought about recruiting much. They're all even. I just want to play."

Bowe said he only has one thing on his mind right now. "All I want to do is win a state title this year," he said.
