Locker Room Report vs FSU

Quotes from inside the UM locker room following a 13-10 loss to Florida State.

Kenny Phillips Thoughts on the game…

"I don't know what it was. In the second half, they just wanted it more than we did. We still came out playing hard. We were up feeling kind of comfortable. We relaxed and they just took over."

On Sam Shields' drop late in the fourth quarter…

"Basically I would have told him (Sam Shields) to shake it off. Everyone drops passes. They drop passes in the NFL."

On the effect of the season…

"This won't affect us at all. We know what we were are capable of. We just have to play four quarters."

On not scoring late in the second quarter following Brandon Meriweather's interception…

"Honestly, we felt if the offense scored one touchdown, we were going to win the game. We were dominating the game. I really can't explain what happened."

On what happened in the second half…

"We lost focus of what we wanted to do. We kind of relaxed a little bit, but we are going to be alright."

Anthony Wollschlager

On the lack of offensive production in the second half…

"In the second half, we were just making silly mistakes. I think we had two fumbles not that we lost any. There was a holding. Second half just wasn't good for us."

On the loss…

"Obviously a loss is very frustrating, especially how good we were doing in the first half. To not be able to come out and seal the deal. We just have to get back up."

On the rest of the season…

"This will not define us. We have a whole season to go."

Reggie Youngblood

On his first start…

"Overall, I did pretty good you know. I messed up on a couple of things, not things I can't fix. Overall, I did pretty good, but we lost man."

On the offense not scoring in the first half…

"After the interception, we should have punched it in. If we had punched it in, it would have been a rout."

On changes FSU made defensively in the second half to confuse the UM line

"Nothing different from the first half to the second half. It's just one of those things you can't explain. I can't explain it."

On moving on to the next game…

"We got to put it outside. The first game is over. We got to press on towards our goal. We can't stop thinking about our goal."

Greg Olsen

On putting the game behind them…

"We got to put it behind us. Obviously, we are disappointed. We don't want to lose. Just have to come out and win the next game."

On what FSU did to take him out of the game…

"They tried to take me away, but we were having great success. Our outside receivers were killing them."

On the second quarter…

"Yeah, we were confident. We were looking good. We were ready to put the game out of reach. We had the ball in good field position. It was 10-3, but just didn't get it done."

Charlie Jones

"It could have made the difference if we could have gotten another field goal. It might have put them away."

On why he was on the bench in the fourth quarter…

"The coaches made that decision. Other than that, it was a coaches decision. I wasn't tired at all."

"We had a lot of penalties and things like that, but we just were consistent."

Darnell Jenkins

On Ryan Moore's absence from the lineup…

"We have Lance, Ryan Hill, Khalil Jones and Terrell. Me and Lance are veterans. All we need is four receivers to go out and play and if we have to play the whole game, we will."

On finally getting the opportunity to be the main wide receiver…

"I was waiting for this opportunity to come and wanted to be victorious, but we took a loss as a team, but we have to move on and prepare for FAMU now."

On the offenses inconsistency…

"Being consistent on offense is a big key. We have to make big plays whether it's a run or pass."

On changes FSU made in the second half…

"They started blitzing us from different gaps and Kyle had to hurry up and get rid of the ball. We couldn't really pick it up. That's what they kept throwing at us and Kyle really couldn't get the ball out of his hands in anything but three steps."

On the disappointment of losing to Florida State for the second straight year…

"It's not really disappointing. They wanted it more than us and they showed it. We had the game in our hands and we let it go. It's not disappointing, we could have come out victorious. We know we were the better team, we know what we can do, but they wanted it more than us."
