McCray First-Team DT

Junior Teraz McCray is currently the first-team right defensive tackle.

Teraz McCray has replaced Kareem Brown at right defensive tackle last week during practices.

"I just go out, compete, work hard, and do what the coaches ask me to do and let it take over from there," McCray said.

McCray's thoughts on being on the first unit: "Hopefully it stays that way."

The Hurricanes are looking for a spark on the defensive line as the team has just three sacks in three games for an average of 1 per game, which is tied for 100th in the country and 11th in the ACC.

"I think we can definitely get better at pass rushing," McCray said. "We just have to finish."

Against Louisville, McCray earned his first career start at left defensive tackle for Bryan Pata.

"It was a day to remember," said McCray, who finished with two tackles and a forced fumble. "I was real, real excited making my first start here. I had wide eyes when I first got on the field."

McCray is looking for another day to remember Saturday against Houston.
