UM Recruiting Local DL

Jack Carter is Nate Webster's cousin. He's also a standout defensive player at Coral Reef High School in Miami. The talented senior talked about the latest.

"We started off good but then we kinda fell off," Carter said. "We're 2-3 right now with four important district games left. I just can't believe the regular season is already halfway over. It seems like it just started."

Carter talked about the season he's been having.

"I've been playing all over," he said. "I've played nose, d-tackle, end, linebacker, pretty much all over. I know I have six sacks right now."

Carter, 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, made a summer commitment to the University of Central Florida and he recently scheduled his official visit there.

"I'm going up there on December 9th," he said. "That's the only one I plan to take unless something changes. That's my college plan."

The hometown Hurricanes are still keeping in touch, however.

"I get calls from Miami and UCF," he said. "Miami (Clint Hurtt) calls just to keep in touch, to see how things are going. They haven't offered me yet though. There's always an interest but I'm very happy with my decision to attend UCF."

Might an offer from the Hurricanes change his mind?

"Well, I spent a month at UM for an academic program I was doing," he said. "I know what it's like and I want to try a new experience. UCF is a great school and I'm happy about that."

Carter is a full academic qualifier.
