Wright Enjoys Visit to UM

The nation's top quarterback prospect began his tour of unofficial visits this past weekend in Miami. He talked all about the visit and what he enjoyed the most and also where the Hurricanes rank on his current list of favorites in this interview.

Standout quarterback Kyle Wright is the only quarterback prospect in the entire country with a confirmed scholarship offer from the University of Miami. The talented signal-caller began a summer visit tour this past Saturday when he arrived in Coral Gables.

"We arrived around 5:30 on Saturday," Wright told me. "We checked in and then walked around the school a little bit. Then on Saturday night my Dad and I went to South Beach to check out the nightlife. I didn't really like it there too much though. It just wasn't my thing."

Wright said he really got a closer look at things on Sunday.

"I met with Coach Werner and we went over to Key Biscayne and I really liked it over there. it's a real nice place," he said. "Then we went over to the Orange Bowl and they opened the place up for us. I really like the stadium. I walked around the field imaging what it would be like to play there. We also got a tour of the locker room and everything. It was real nice."

Wright said he also had the chance to meet coach Larry Coker for the first time.

"It was real nice meeting with Coach Coker," he said. "He's a real nice guy. My dad and I both liked him. I went into his office and took pictures with the national championship trophy. They had a brand new jersey with my name and number 7 on it. Ethenic Sands wears that number now but he's a senior, so if I go there I'll be able to keep wearing #7."

The talented quarterback said he also had a chance to throw the ball around with Ken Dorsey.

"Me, Ken, Marc Guillon, Eric Winston, and Curtis Justus all went over to Coral Gables High School and threw the ball around," he said. "It was a good workout in the hot weather. People say the weather's a big thing but it's really not. You get used to it. The biggest difference between Miami and California is the humidity factor, but it's something you can get used to."

Wright plans on majoring in business so that was one of the other reasons for his visit.

"We saw the School of Business and it was awesome," he said. "The athletic facilities were amazing as well. I really enjoyed meeting all the coaches, some players, and taking a tour of the campus. Plus the city was real nice too."

So after the successful visit to Miami, where do the Hurricanes rank on Kyle's current list?

"Miami's right up there," he said. "Them and SC are right there together. I'm going to have a difficult decision, especially after I check out some other schools later this month."

Wright plans on taking unofficial visits to Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Texas over the next two weeks.
