At 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, Linwood (N.J.) Mainland Regional standout offensive lineman John Rochford is getting real close to making a final decision.
"We start practice this Wednesday," Rochford said. "I'm getting pretty excited and I can't wait. I've been lifting four times a week and running four times a week. And before the season starts, I want to have the recruiting stuff out of the way. I will be making a decision within the next few weeks."
The talented offensive lineman said he's narrowed things down to two schools.
"It's pretty much between Miami and Penn State," he said. "I took unofficial visits to both schools this summer and I was very impressed with both of them. Surprisingly, there isn't much difference between them. They're both big time programs with great coaching staffs. Penn State has awesome facilities and great tradition. Miami's the defending national champions and their weight room was awesome. I really enjoyed both campuses."
Rochford - who has offers from both Miami and Penn State along with Wisconsin, Iowa, and Temple - said he'll announce his decision later this month.
"It'll probably be sometime in late August," he said. "There's a lot to like about both schools and I'd say they're even right now. I have a real difficult decision to make."
Personally, I think Rochford will announce for the Hurricanes. CanesTime.com first reported of UM's interest in Rochford back in the spring. Here was a follow-up interview I had with Rochford in early June:
