QB Freeman to Make First Start

Miami sophomore QB Kirby Freeman will make his first career start on Saturday according to Coach Larry Coker.

Kirby Freeman will be replacing Kyle Wright as the starting quarterback after Wright suffered a fractured right thumb on his throwing hand in last Saturday's game against Virginia Tech.

Wright did not practice Tuesday, but had the cast removed on Wednesday and practiced lightly.

"Hopefully we think he will be able to help us and be ready to play," Coker said. "I will start Kirby Freeman and I feel like Kyle will be able to play if need be."

Freeman is looking to rejuvenate an offense that currently ranks 74th in total offense and 77th in scoring offense.

The Hurricanes are 5-4 on the season and need just one win to become bowl eligible.
