News and Notes

• 3B Gus Menendez has had impressive plays in the field the past two days. On one play he grounded a ball at third, tagged the runner out and throw out the force out at first for the double play. On other play he made a diving stop at third and made the throw across the diamond to throw the runner out at first.

• 1B Yonder Alonso and OF Nick Freitas each hit a home run on Tuesday. Alonso's home run is his second of the fall, while Freitas home run is a team leading 4 for this fall.

• RHP Anthony Nalepa showed great control on Tuesday, not allowing a walk. Nalepa does not get many strikeouts, but he does force the batters into a lot of fly ball outs.

• OF Dennis Raben returned to practice Tuesday (ankle) after missing three practices.
