Wright Has Surgery, Season Likely Over

Kyle Wright had surgery Monday to repair his broken right thumb on his throwing hand.

Kyle Wright, a junior, has thrown for 1,655 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season and led the team to a 5-4 record as a starter.

He broke his thumb on the third play of the Virginia Tech game on Nov. 4 and did not play in the Nov. 11 game against Maryland.

Now it looks like he will miss the rest of the season even if the Hurricanes go to a bowl game.

"Probably his best option would be to come back in the spring," Miami head coach Larry Coker said. "We'll see how it progresses."

As a sophomore, Wright guided the Hurricanes to a 9-3 record and threw for 2,403 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
