Kayne Talks About Situation

Kayne Farquharson made an early commitment to the University of Miami and mentioned that Larry Coker was a big reason why he picked the Canes. Today, Farquharson talked about the situation.

"Like I've said before, orange and green runs through my blood," Farquharson said. "My commitment to the U is probably more solid than anyone on that commitment list. I'm going home as soon as I finish this semester here."

Farquharson, who's having an outstanding sophomore season at El Camino JC, said he learned of the news today on ESPN.

"It was tough to see but I cant say it's a surprise," he said. "With all the rumors and everything that have been going on, I'm not surprised. They did'nt have the year they expected."

Farquharson said he's been told that all of UM's current commitments will be honored by the new coaching staff.

"The good thing is that Donna Shalala said that all commitments will still have a spot," he said.

The talented receiver, who plans on starting school in January, will now go on the recruiting trail for UM.

"I heard that DVD decommitted and I'm going to give him a call," he said. "I've talked to Deonte Thompson about coming to the U and I'm going to give him a call this weekend because he's out here for the Notre Dame game. I want to do everything I can to make sure we still have a strong class no matter who the coach is."

Farquharson, who recently took a one day trip to Colorado, said he's excited about becoming a Hurricane.

"Nothing's changed," he said. "I'm coming to the U and we're going to have a great recruiting class."
