"I actually just came back from a visit to Nebraska," Hicks said. "I went out there on Thursday and just got back. It was pretty good. The game was crazy."
Hicks said the best part of his trip was learning how passionate the Husker fans are.
"They're crazy," he said. "They love Nebraska football there. Plus, they had signs with my name on it. I couldn't believe it."
During his visit to Lincoln, Hicks learned of some big news on Friday morning. Miami, one of Hicks' top choices, fired its head coach.
"I heard about it in my hotel room," he said. "I was like, 'dang' but it doesn't really change my decision. Coach Hurtt called me and said they're waiting to see what happens but the defensive coaches might stay."
The talented linebacker prospect said he wasn't completely surprised by the dismissal of Coker, who seemed to have two teams on the field this year.
"It's crazy how different the offense and defense was this year," he said. "The defense had a real good year, were one of the top units. The offense really struggled."
While he doesn't have any other visits lined up, Hicks said he's pretty sure that three schools will get one.
"I'm gonna go to LSU, Florida, and Miami," he said. "LSU will probably be next. They're actually coming tomorrow to visit with me. Florida State called and said they wanted to come too."
Hicks, who is waiting on his test score results, has previously listed the Canes and Gators as co-favorites.
"They're still at the top," he said. "I know it's gonna get pretty crazy with all the coaches coming and everything so I gotta be prepared."
