Walton Visits Local Players

A.J. Guyton is one of the top wide receiver prospects in South Florida this year and the Homestead standout talked about the latest.

"I'm just chillin, watching some college hoops," Guyton said. "I've been relaxing since our season ended. We're all going up to UCF this weekend. We leave Friday."

Guyton, 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, has not yet scheduled any other recruiting visits. He's been keeping busy in the meantime.

"It's been crazy with all the coaches coming by the school," he said. "Yesterday, we had UCF, Marshall, Akron, about six of them. Today, we have Minnesota, Wisconsin, UM, some more. Tomorrow, I think Florida State's coming."

Guyton said UM coach Tim Walton made the stop for the Hurricanes.

"He was here to see me, Alphonso, and JoeJoe," he said. "He talked about not calling as much lately. They've been real busy with everything that's been going on. He didn't talk about the head coaching situation. He did talk about bringing us in for a visit. He said we're the type of players they need to bring in to help get things right."

When asked for his thoughts on the coaching situation, Guyton had some interesting things to say.

"I know a lot of people might not wanna take the job because of all the pressure and everything," he said. "That's what I've heard. Someone like Randy Shannon could handle that. It doesn't matter to me."

The talented receiver, who has not had any in-home visits this week, said he plans on re-taking the ACT next Saturday.

"I have a 2.4 core right now and a 15 on the ACT," he said. "I just need to get about an 18 and I'll be straight. I'm not too worried about it because I know I'll do good."
