Embers Scores 23 in Loss to KU Signee

Jordan Embers is a 6-foot-4 junior shooting guard at Louisburg (KS) High School beginning to put his name on the map.

In the season opener on Monday night against Tyrel Reed and Burlington (KS) High School, Jordan Embers scored 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting while Reed, a Kansas signee, guarded him throughout the game.

Embers hit four 3-pointers in the game and added 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

"I was real excited," said Embers prior to the matchup with Reed. "It was a challenge. Nobody thought that I was supposed to be good against him. I didn't have much pressure and shots started to fall."

Reed scored 29 points to lead his team to a victory.

"Tyrel is real good," Embers said. "We double-teamed him all game. He's quick, fast, and all that good stuff. We were so focused on him that some other guys hurt us."

Embers, who has a good stroke from the outside, had a strong showing at the 2006 Kansas Battle of the Rankings Camp going up against some of the state's best players. Embers was named a Gold All-Star and ranked the second-best junior at the camp behind Ty Modupe, a 6-foot-7 forward receiving high-major interest.

Embers has preliminary interest from Evansville, , Creighton, Long Beach State, Drake, Western Illinois, and Davidson.
