Dorell Wright Checks in with CanesTime

Miami Heat forward Dorell Wright checks in with CanesTime to talk about his close relationship with UM's leading scorer Jack McClinton.

Dorell Wright and Jack McClinton played at South Kent Prep School during the 2003-04 season.

During the '03-04 season, Wright led the team in scoring averaging 29 points per game. McClinton averaged 18 a game as the team finished 28-10.

Wright, who hails from Los Angeles, and McClinton, from Balitmore, developed an instant bond while at South Kent.

"That is my left-hand man," Wright said. "With Jack we go way back to prep school so I try to take care of him when he is down here because he doesn't really have anyone down here. We have a real good relationship."

Wright was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2004 and McClinton went to Siena.

After one season at Siena, McClinton transferred to the University of Miami and re-united with Wright.

The two have been inseparable ever since.

"I see him every day," Wright said. "That fool is at my house eating my groceries every single day."

This season both players are enjoying success on the hardwood as McClinton is the ACC's leading scorer at 19.8 points per game and Wright has started 13 straight games for the Heat after starting just two in his first two seasons.

"I am real excited," said Wright on McClinton's success. "I hear he is the ACC's leading scorer. All that hard work during the time he was sitting out is paying off."

Both Wright and McClinton will be in action tonight as the Heat are in Milwaukee and the Hurricanes host Binghamton at 7:30 p.m.
