Zusevics Eliminates UM, Down to Two

Three-star offensive tackle recruit Markus Zusevics recently narrowed his list of schools down to two choices.

"I've narrowed it down to pretty much Purdue and Iowa," Markus Zusevivs said of his final choices. "Iowa just came in late recruiting me. I've got a decision in mind between those two schools but I don't want anyone to know until I can call personally and tell them."

Iowa's emergence as a candidate comes largely because of their intense communication with him.

Conversely, Miami's lack of interest ultimately cost them a chance at nabbing the offensive lineman. Distance from home also played a factor. Zusevics, who hails from Mount Prospect, Ill., was not keen on the idea of being far away from home.

"There was kind of a lack of communication between me and Coach Cristobal," Zusevics said. "Also, after taking a more serious look at Miami, it's real far from home. I'd only be able to make it home about once or twice a year. My family wouldn't be able to go out there as much and my family wants me closer to home."

Zusevics had initially planned a visit to Coral Gables for the week of Dec. 15, but those plans fell through.

"I talked to Coach Cristobal and he said that only one guy was coming down on the 15th for an official visit and they weren't really having an official visit that weekend due to the coaching staff situation."

Despite eliminating Miami, Markus still had very nice things to say about the program.

"I thank Miami for recruiting me. Good luck to them in the future. I have a lot of respect for the guys out there and what they do."
