2008 Intro: Jackie Carmichael

Jackie Carmichael is a 6-foot-9, 225-pound junior center out of Manhattan (KS) High School.

Jackie Carmichael is developing into a solid Division I prospect as he is averaging 10.5 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks per game at Manhattan High.

"I think I have played pretty good, but I don't think I am where I want to be," Carmichael said. "Hopefully I will keep improving on certain things like getting more comfortable with the ball, shooting it more, going to the basket more, or facing up more. Those are some areas I need to improve on. Also, shooting I need to keep working on it."

Known as a defensive specialist who runs the court well with a long wing span, Carmichael has improved since a year ago. A number of colleges have showed preliminary interest such as: Kansas, Wichita State, UNLV, Northern Iowa, Columbia, and Harvard, as well as a number of schools in the Missouri Vallery Conference.

Manhattan is 4-4 this season.

"They have been going pretty well," said Carmichael on his team's success. "We have improved a lot since last year. I think we came a long ways since last summer and people have done a lot of things to improve."

Carmichael carries a 3.5 GPA and plans on taking the ACT this spring.
