Last Minute Decisions Loom

National Signing Day is almost like a holiday to college football fans and it always provides plenty of excitement. Tomorrow should be no different.

With most of this year's recruiting class already wrapped up, the University of Miami is still waiting to see what happens with a few key players in this class.

Running back Lee Chambers is scheduled to announce his college decision at 9:30 am EST tomorrow. The two-time state champion in the 100m and 200m events has narrowed his list down to Miami and Southern Miss afer eliminating Mississippi State and Alabama from contention late last week. The Canes appear to be in real good shape here.

Wide receiver Deonte Thompson is the No. target left for the Hurricanes. The five-star receiver from Glades Central took visits to LSU, Ohio State, USC, Florida, and Miami but it appears UM's toughest competition going into tomorrow is Florida, Florida, and Southern Cal. Thompson will announce his decision at 3:30 tomorrow at a school press conference.

Linebacker Charles Clay took a visit to Miami this past weekend and left with a scholarship offer. He has papers from Arkansas and Arkansas State as well as Miami and is scheduled to announce his final decision sometime tomorrow morning.

Defensive back Demarcus Van Dyke was an early commitment to Miami before backing off and switching to Florida shortly after Larry Coker was fired. Then when Randy Shannon got the job, things started changing. Shannon never stopped recruiting the talented cornerback prospect and despite being committed to the Gators, Van Dyke is likely to sign with Miami tomorrow at noon.

Safety Joe Nicolas was committed to Rutgers for about a month before visiting Miami in mid January. He now says the two schools are even going into tomorrow and we believe he'll ink with the Hurricanes at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

Stay tuned to CanesTime.com for all the latest coverage tomorrow, including live reports from both Pace (Van Dyke) and Homestead (Nicolas).
