Standout DL May Visit UM

At 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, Hamden (Conn.) Hyde Leadership standout defensive tackle Richard Kittrell is gearing up for the start of his senior season.

"We start up in two weeks," Kittrell said. "It's finally here. As one of the state's top two players, I'm hoping to have a big senior season."

Kittrell, who attended summer camps at Rutgers and UConn this year, said he's already talked to over a dozen college coaches since Sunday.

"I just talked to North Carolina and Purdue," he said on Wednesday night. "I talked to six coaches yesterday."

The standout defensive lineman said he hasn't really narrowed things down yet.

"I'm still considering all of the above," he said. "What I mean is pretty much those recruiting me. I haven't really narrowed it down or anything. The only visit I've set is Michigan State on December 6. I'll take the rest after the season."

Kittrell said he now has over 10 offers. "Maryland, Boston College, Iowa, I've got a bunch of them."

In our last conversation, Kittrell mentioned Miami as one of his top choices.

"I still like Miami a lot and I'd probably take a visit there," he said. "They haven't called me yet. The only Florida school I've heard from is Central Florida."

Kittrell said Maryland may still have the slight edge.

"I still like Maryland a lot," he said. "But I'm a long way from a decision. I like them all - Boston College, Iowa, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Miami, and some others."
