Freshman tailback Graig Cooper has been one of the hot topics during the spring, but running backs coach Tommie Robinson said Charlie Jones has been impressive.
"Charlie Jones has really done a good job," Robinson said. "He makes runs every day. I think because Cooper is the new guy and Charlie has been around here a while, I think people kind of forget about him. Charlie Jones has been very, very solid. He had an 80-yard run today and Cooper didn't."
Jones comes into this season with 713 rushing yards in his career with a 3.7 yards per carry average. He has rushed for 10 touchdowns.
It appears Javarris James will start again this year with Jones working to be his primary backup.
