Orange Team Wins Spring Game, 7-0

MIAMI, Fla. - Sam Shields caught a 5-yard pass from Kyle Wright shortly before halftime as the Orange team defeated the white Team, 7-0 at UM's annual spring game.

Kyle Wright threaded the pass over the outstretched arms of Randy Phillips in the back corner of the endzone for the only touchdown of the day.

Wright finished 7-of-14 for 60 yards and one touchdown.

Kirby Freeman drove his White team down to the 13-yardline in the closing minutes of the game, but had a 4th-and-2 pass deflected ending Freeman's day.

Freeman completed 8-of-19 passes for 117 yards and an interception.

The biggest play of the day was a 41-yard reception by Khail Jones from Freeman.

Jones led all receivers with three catches for 54 yards. He was the only scholarship receiver on the White team.

Running back Javarris James suffered a possible broken ankle in the second half and did not return.

Chavez Grant recorded an intereption for the Orange team and Calais Campbell led all players with three sacks.

All-American safety candidate Kenny Phillips led all players with eight tackles.
