UM Commit Named 5-Star DT

Justin Thompson, a UM commit, is one of five junior college prospects in the country that earned 5-star status by Scout.com.

Justin Thompson committed to Miami earlier this month while taking a visit to the campus.

"I like the coaches, I have a good chance of coming in right away and playing and they are a great program to be part of," said Thompson in an article on JCFootball.com

Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive tackle at El Camino Junior College, chose UM over Arizona, Florida, LSU, Nebraska, and Tennessee.

When Scout.com released it's national top 100 list, Thompson was rewarded with five-star status.

Only three defensive tackles in the country have 5-star status including Marcus Forston (Miami, Fla.) and Deangelo Tyson (Statesboro, Ga.).

Forston is being recruited by the Hurricanes and Tyson has committed to Georgia.

Miami currently has five commitments including a soft verbal from Patrick Johnson, also a five-star recruit who is the ninth-ranked prospect in the country.
