LHP Miguelez Looking for Strong Start Tonight

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Miami hosts Stetson tonight at 7 p.m. LHP Manny Miguelez (0-2, 6.12 ERA) will go up against RHP Corey Kluber (8-0, 1.80 ERA).

Stetson (32-11) is looking for a big win against UM to improve their seeding for the NCAA tournament. Stetson is ranked 24th in three of the polls.

"I am excited about playing against this team because they are ranked," Miguelez said. "I heard they had a pretty good team."

Last Wednesday against North Florida, Miguelez pitched six innings allowing two runs and four hits while striking out five and walking three. He took the loss as the Hurricanes only scored two runs.

"I think I pitched pretty good," Miguelez said. "Things didn't go my way, but overall I think I did alright. We just didn't hit that much and we had some errors."

Miguelez (0-2, 6.12 ERA) will be making his 10th start of the season tonight. He has struck out 21 in 42 2/3 innings and hitters are hitting .296 off of him this season.

"I have been feeling good and back into the groove," Miguelez said. "I feel strong."

Stetson RHP Corey Kluber (8-0, 1.80 ERA) will get the start for Stetson.


Miami will host No. 2 ranked Florida State (37-6) for a three-game series beginning on Friday.

FSU's team average of .364 is better than any one player for the Hurricanes.

LHP Scott Maine, RHP Enrique Garcia, and LHP Eric Erickson are expected to start for the Hurricanes.
