"I'm feeling good, the ball has been getting out here at home," Raben said. "I'm just seeing the ball good and getting some good pitches to hit."
On Wednesday, Dennis Raben connected on his 11th home run of the season, a solo shot on an 0-2 count against Stetson ace RHP Corey Kluber, a projected third or fourth round draft pick.
This season Raben is batting .305 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI. His OPS (on base plus slugging percent) is .983, which ranks second on the team.
"My discipline has been a lot better," Raben said. "Earlier in the year if I fell behind in a count I would shorten up and get out of my game a little bit, but now I'm shortening up and being smart. I'm making sure everything is in the zone and I'm not striking out as much as I was before."
In addition to being one of the team's top hitters during his sophomore season, Raben has recently earned the duties as the team's setup man out of the bullpen in front of closer Danny Gil.
"I feel good pitching," said Raben, who has a 0.63 ERA in 14 1/3 innings this season. "I am looking forward to pitching in this series and hopefully there will be some big situations for me."
He has struck out 12 batters, walking two and hitter are hitting .157 off of him this season.
Last year Raben did not have the confidence in his pitching ability and struggled on the mound with a 17.36 ERA in 4 2/3 innings striking out one batter.
"I didn't know what college was going to be like, but you just have to know that you are here for a reason and that you are good enough, so trust your stuff."
