Canes Need Big Performance From Erickson

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The University of Miami will play Florida State in the final game of the series today at noon.

The Hurricanes lost the first two games of the series to the number one ranked Seminoles.

On Friday, UM lost the game 7-6 after holding a 6-3 lead in the top of the ninth. Saturday, FSU pounded the Canes 13-8.

"I talked to the team about coming out and playing with pride and being ready to play the game," coach Jim Morris said. "We looked at the scouting report and exactly what we told them is what happened Saturday night."

Freshman lefty Eric Erickson (5-3) will start for UM while junior right hand pitcher Danny Rosen (1-0) will make his first career start for FSU. Rosen leads FSU with eight saves.

"We need a good effort out of Erickson Sunday and we need him to get it to Danny Gil, our closer, so we can get it done."

Freshman Mark Sobolewski will also be looking to extend his hitting game streak to a freshman record 17 straight games.
